iglidur® guide rings are clip-on sliding elements designed to guide moving components while replacing conventional PTFE tape in suitable applications. They provide a compact, lubrication-free solution for guiding and supporting movement.

Q: What are iglidur® guide rings used for?

iglidur® guide rings are used in applications such as lifting elements, control valves and fittings. They are particularly useful where a simple, compact and maintenance-free guiding element is required.

Q: Do iglidur® guide rings need lubrication?

No. iglidur® guide rings are designed for dry-running operation and do not require regular external lubrication.

Q: What materials are iglidur® guide rings made from?

The standard product range is made from iglidur® J, while freely configurable guide rings are also available in iglidur® J and other iglidur® materials. Material selection can therefore be adapted to different operating requirements.

Guide rings support pistons and rods in hydraulic and pneumatic systems while protecting them from wear. They are commonly used in gas springs, dampers, and pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders. Made from iglidur® high-performance plastics, igus® guide rings offer low friction, low wear and high mechanical strength, without the need for additional lubrication or maintenance.

What are the iglidur® materials suitable for?

For general purpose

Universal use under normal conditions (temperatures, media etc.)

With long service life

Every iglidur plain bearing is naturally optimised for wear, but the materials in this group are characterized by very low wear rates and therefore provides long service life.

For high temperatures

High-temperature specialists for continuous operating temperatures up to +250℃

With high media resistance

High media resistance for a wide range of applications in wet areas

For contact with food

The materials in this group are FDA-compliant materials for the most varied operating conditions in terms of moisture and temperature, including a material suitable even for the tobacco industry

For harsh environments & heavy-duty

iglidur plain bearings for high loads combine high wear resistance and the ability to withstand high static loads, impacts and edge loads

For special application areas

Materials for electrical conductivity, free from PTFE and silicone or fast rotation underwater

Particularly sustainable

iglidur materials that are made from at least 97% regranulate: iglidur ECO
