Q: What are iglidur® thrust washers used for?

iglidur® thrust washers are self-lubricating sliding elements designed to accommodate axial loads between moving components. They can be used where a low-friction sliding surface is required instead of a lubricated metal thrust washer.

Q: Do iglidur® thrust washers require lubrication?

No. iglidur® thrust washers are designed for dry-running applications and use integrated solid lubricants to reduce friction and wear without regular external lubrication.

Q: How do I select an iglidur® thrust washer?

Selection depends on the axial load, sliding speed, operating temperature, movement type and shaft or mating surface. The appropriate iglidur® material should be selected according to the actual operating conditions.

Q: Can iglidur® thrust washers be used in demanding environments?

Yes, selected iglidur® materials can be used in wet, corrosive, high-temperature and other demanding environments. The correct material must be selected for the specific combination of load, speed, temperature and media.

Thrust washer bearings are flat bearings designed to support axial loads and prevent metal-on-metal contact between rotating and stationary components. Thrust washers from igus are made from self-lubricating iglidur® polymers, enabling maintenance-free, dry operation across a wide range of applications.

What are the iglidur® materials suitable for?

For general purpose

Universal use under normal conditions (temperatures, media etc.)

With long service life

Every iglidur plain bearing is naturally optimised for wear, but the materials in this group are characterized by very low wear rates and therefore provides long service life.

For high temperatures

High-temperature specialists for continuous operating temperatures up to +250℃

With high media resistance

High media resistance for a wide range of applications in wet areas

For contact with food

The materials in this group are FDA-compliant materials for the most varied operating conditions in terms of moisture and temperature, including a material suitable even for the tobacco industry

For harsh environments & heavy-duty

iglidur plain bearings for high loads combine high wear resistance and the ability to withstand high static loads, impacts and edge loads

For special application areas

Materials for electrical conductivity, free from PTFE and silicone or fast rotation underwater

Particularly sustainable

iglidur materials that are made from at least 97% regranulate: iglidur ECO
